Good to be green

I like the colour green, although strangely when it comes to clothes I rarely wear it.  I have a gorgeous long green cardi from (now defunct) East that I like to wear in the winter but not much else.  So I have chosen to make some green summer weight trousers that I can mooch around in and a dress for work.  The trousers are from a pattern New Look 6246 and the dress is also New Look 6411.  I don't mind New Look patterns as they are generally good with sizing for me.

Hopeless at photography? Add cute pooch and nobody seems to notice.

I chose the trousers without the ties and shortened them slightly to feel more summery. I picked a dark green linen blend fabric that cost less than £5! Bargain! Very very simple to make, well as you would expect with an elasticated waist. I do like an elasticated waist sometimes as I have had surgery (years back) and more fitted stuff can be uncomfortable sometimes. I have also made the trousers in a blue cotton with a repeated pattern and a floral polycotton which is very cool to wear in the summer.

Red and white ditsy swing top is one of mine, self drafted a pattern based on a loose cotton top from Tu by Sainsburys, just flares out enough to be cool in the summer.

My dress is green with a block pattern. To be honest I wasn't sure about the fabric at first but it has grown on me. The dress has a sixties feel due to the blocky geometric pattern. But the fabric feels lovely and drapes well. I shall wear the dress in the Autumn with black or brown thick tights and boots. I didn't have any issues with fit, it was a pleasure to make as the styling is very relaxed. Maybe I would remake with slightly longer sleeves.

Thinking that I may re-evaluate wearing green clothes a bit more often.  All this has made me remember that I did actually own a pair of dark green jeans back in the 90s. Remember when coloured jeans was a thing?  Thankfully that time has passed.
