Embroidery or bust
Lockdown has meant lots of time at home. Even though we are coming out of lockdown, I can't quite get back into the habit of scooting out and about. I don't want to go to shopping centres and mingle. Not yet anyway.
So I am busy doing things that I haven't tried in (many) years. Embroidery is one of those things. My hoop is over 60 years old, a family heirloom, and I love touching it. The wood is beautiful. I have newer hoops, but this is the one I choose.
I love nature, flowers, trees and birds so of course my first attempts were going to be inspired by what I see around me. I looked at Pinterest for ideas and rejected the idea of buying a kit or tracing patterns and just gave it a go.
I rediscovered a love of French knots, chain stitch and lovely daisy stitch. I enjoyed the slowness of it all. I mean I had time to listen to Podcasts, music and generally get lost in my thoughts. It's great for the soul!
Wild scene, bit like the bottom of my garden.
More well ordered, not like the bottom of my garden.
I intend to carry on - be a bit more ambitious!
